Ford launches challenge to accelerate the advancement of LED technology
Ford and NextEnergy, LED energy technology company based in Detroit , United States, joined forces to encourage industry suppliers to accelerate the development of innovative products in lighting for the car.
This initiative consists of different challenges aimed at companies in the industry to be present innovative ideas to be evaluated by specialists from both companies. They will be distributed to U $ S $ 40,000 in prizes.
The categories to be addressed by different teams are:
· Challenge Featherweight: Develop lighting products that generate more light with less weight.
· Challenge manufacturing project: Devising ways to transform the existing lighting advanced technologies into profitable and suitable for a high level of production.
· LEDs daylighting: Create interior lighting in LED (Light Emitting Diodes) that simulate daylight.
· Structural lighting Challenge: Integrating LEDs and OLEDs (organic light emitting diodes light) on the interior and exterior structural components such as the seats and door panels.
· Lifecycle Challenge: Promote the design of recyclable lighting technology, including lighting biodegradable.
Both companies will conduct a scoring matrix to determine the winners, who will present their ideas at the end of next year.
Under this initiative, Ford aims to maintain its leadership in lighting. As an example, the Ford Mustang, the vehicle which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, uses this technology in its taillamps since 2010.
